City stops security interventions marking the
occasion of World Security Days
Geo-psychological security measures developed in cooperation with the Vienna Fund for Art in Public Space: helicopter shadow paintings visible in space. This precipitous exit from the successful European cultural partnership for peace is allegedly based on "security" reasons. Unsettled by the international insecure situation and terrorism warning the Municipal Directorate fears threat scenarios by phantasms of perception.
With this the city administration positions itself against a decision of an international jury in favor of this cultural security intervention. Informed circles express their concern that "the war on terror in Vienna is at risk through water color". Observers warn of the consequences for the city in a rising security culture of new technologies. Boris Beauregard of GSA says "Vienna seems to have difficulty to assume its role as European Cultural Capital of Security politics". Konrad Becker concluded: "In the battle zones of security art and media Vienna loses out on the future".
